What Is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a form of therapy in which very fine needles are inserted into tendons, ligaments, muscles or nerves in order to stimulate a response that facilitates muscle relaxation and helps treat painful musculo-skeletal conditions. You may experience a muscle twitch and/or deep muscular ache when the needle is inserted into the muscle; this is a normal response to this technique.

What Can You Treat With Dry Needling?

Dry needling is not acupuncture or Oriental medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of alternating the (“Qi”) along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases. Dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal problems such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, calf tightness, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis or low-back pain.
