What Is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a form of therapy in which very fine needles are inserted into tendons, ligaments, muscles or nerves in order to stimulate a response that facilitates muscle relaxation and helps treat painful musculo-skeletal conditions. You may experience a muscle twitch and deep muscular ache when the needle is inserted into the muscle; this is a normal response to this technique.
What Can You Treat With Dry Needling?
Dry needling is not acupuncture or Oriental medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of alternating the (“Qi”) along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases. Dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the physiotherapy treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal problems such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, calf tightness, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis or low-back pain.
