Ben McNeil

Originally from Newcastle, Ben gained professional experience working in the New York City Health and Wellness industry over the course of 10 years working as a Massage Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Personal Trainer and Movement Specialist in a range of clinics and multidisciplinary facilities.

Ben has worked with a number of patient populations and athletes ranging from the NFL to the UFC, MLS to MLB, Olympians and the everyday athlete. Ben originally obtained his Diploma of Health Sciences (Massage Therapy) at the TAFE institute of Newcastle and in 2020 obtained Remedial Massage Therapy with Honours. Ben also holds a Bachelor of Teaching / Bachelor of Health and Physical Education at the University of Newcastle.

After teaching Physical Education in secondary colleges for 2 years in the UK, Ben moved to NYC to work more specifically in clinical rehabilitative care. Ben has had experience working alongside Chiropractors at a Chiropractic Clinic as a massage therapist for two years then moved to a Physical Therapy Clinic for 5 years where he guided patients through functional and corrective exercise. This provided Ben with a huge and diverse variety of conditions, populations and abilities, from post operative patients to high functioning athletes.

Ben’s mission is to educate, enlighten and empower others to move well, feel well and be well. Through a combination of trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, active release technique, IASTM and PNF stretching Ben aims to alleviate pain and achieve correct joint and tissue functionality.

My main focus is:

Q.What are your core beliefs about wellness and health?

That the body in its optimal alignment is self healing. Understanding our own specific physical demands allows us to find our own optimal alignment. Not one shoe fits all.

Q.What key health lessons do you like to impart to patients?

That repetition is the blueprint for failure, variation is key.

Q.What do you enjoy about your job?

Working with people to solve problems. I’m a Sherpa – not a healer, the body does that pretty well by itself, only sometimes it needs a guide.

Q.What are your extracurricular passions?

Anything to do with the beach, re-exploring Newcastle, huge appreciation for architecture and design.
